Distinguished Citizen Award - For the last 74 years the Hayward Lions Club makes an annual presentation to the person who has contributed greatly to the Hayward/Castro Valley community.
Lion of the Year Award - Each year our Club recognizes the Lion who has contributed the most to advancing our club in the Hayward area.
Lions Young Leaders in Service Awards -On a yearly basis our Club recognizes those young leaders who have served the community through their fine contributions.
White Cane Day - The Lions Clubs' main goal is to provide "vision to the world." On White Cane Day we collect money so those without vision may be given a white cane.
Bell Ringing For the Salvation Army - In conjunction with the Salvation Army, members of the Hayward Lions Club take shifts and ring the bell at a local grocer to raise needed funds for Salvation Army projects each December.
Disaster Relief Assistance - When natural disasters arise, our club offers immediate assistance through the donation of cash and goods to the stricken area.
Student Speakers Contest - As part of the national contest, the Club holds a contest of high school students on a given topic. Ultimately, as the winner advances, cash prizes are awarded to the winning persuasive speaker.
Peace Poster Contest - The Lions hold an international contest amongst middle school students to promote peace and understanding in our world. Our club is proud to have an entry in this yearly contest.
Oakland Blind Center - As a part of the East Bay Lions, the Hayward Club proudly assists in the operations of the Oakland Blind Center. Here, those who are visually impaired relearn essential skills or enjoy some recreational activities.
Student Scholarships - Our Club provides scholarships to local grade school and college-aged students to continue their education.
Vision Impaired and Hearing Impaired referrals - As part of our worldwide mission, we refer those people with vision and hearing needs to our sponsored medical professionals in the area at no cost to the patient.
Holiday Gift Baskets - Around December we create gift baskets filled with food, toiletries, and other essentials to be delivered to indigent residents in the area.
Donations and Sponsorships - The Hayward Lions Club makes annual donations to the following organizations. In some situations, we sponsor children who could participate in these ventures.
